Ceiling-mounted RFID EAS system with direction detection, multi-tag reading and sound-light alarms for hypermarkets and retail brands.
Notice: All products can be configured to comply with the local RFID frequency standards of the destination country or region. Please confirm the required frequency band before placing your quote.
XTD4121 RFID Ceiling Reader
The XTD4121 is a ceiling-mounted RFID EAS system designed to identify tagged items moving through retail entrances and exits. By analysing RFID tag phase trajectories, it helps distinguish entry from exit without relying on traditional floor pedestals, infrared sensors, radar or AI cameras.

2.2–3.5 m Recommended installation height |
Up to 6 m Entrance coverage with auxiliary antennas |
>500 reads/s Multi-tag reading under suitable conditions |
300,000 Local data records supported |
Actual RFID performance depends on tag performance and orientation, item material and quantity, movement speed, installation environment and reader configuration.
|
Direction-Aware RFID Detection See Direction, Not Just DetectionA conventional reader can tell you that a tag was read. The XTD4121 RFID ceiling reader is designed to go further by analysing the tag's phase trajectory to determine movement direction at the entrance. |

Retail Loss Prevention
Installed above the doorway, the XTD4121 provides an alternative to floor-mounted security pedestals while supporting item-level RFID identification, direction detection and configurable alarms.

Built for Daily Retail Operations
Configurable EPC FilteringApply up to six EPC filtering rule groups and configure whitelist or blacklist alarm modes for different workflows. |
Sound and Light AlertsAn integrated buzzer and red-and-blue LED light strip provide immediate local notification when configured events occur. |
Offline Data ContinuityStore data locally during a network interruption and continue transmission when connectivity is restored. |
Remote Device VisibilityReport operating status and internal hardware faults to support faster maintenance and multi-device oversight. |
Flexible System CommunicationSupport TCP, HTTP and MQTT communication for connection with background software and cloud-based management. |
Expandable Entrance CoverageMonitor entrances up to 3 m with the main unit or expand coverage up to 6 m with auxiliary antennas. |
Application Scenarios
Hypermarket Protect Wide, High-Traffic EntrancesSupport batch detection of tagged merchandise moving through busy exits while keeping trolley and customer traffic free from floor-mounted RFID gates. Relevant workflows: exit monitoring, whitelist or blacklist alarms, multi-tag detection, remote device management and event-data synchronization. |
Retail Brand Keep Brand Entrances Open and UnobstructedAdd item-level RFID loss prevention above the entrance without allowing security pedestals to dominate the store design or restrict the customer journey. Relevant workflows: apparel item identification, exit-direction detection, EPC filtering, sound-light alerts and centralized multi-store device oversight. |
|
How It Works Focused Detection Across the ExitThe UHF RFID gate reader continuously processes tag responses within the configured entrance zone. Phase-trajectory changes are used to determine direction, while EPC rules and background data decide whether an event should trigger an alarm. The result is a ceiling-mounted RFID loss prevention workflow that connects item movement, rule-based verification, local alerts and remote data management. |

Frequently Asked Questions
An RFID ceiling reader is installed above an entrance or monitored passage to identify RFID-tagged items without placing reader pedestals on the floor. The XTD4121 also analyses tag movement direction for retail exit monitoring.
No auxiliary infrared, radar or AI-camera system is required for its RFID tag direction judgement. The device determines movement direction from RFID tag phase trajectories.
The main unit supports an entrance width of up to 3 m. With auxiliary antennas, the monitored width can be expanded to up to 6 m. Final performance depends on the site environment and RFID tag configuration.
The XTD4121 supports local data storage and offline data retransmission. It can store up to 300,000 records and continue sending data after connectivity is restored.
Yes. The system supports up to six EPC filtering rule groups as well as whitelist and blacklist alarm modes.
Yes. It can support wide, high-traffic hypermarket exits and open-format apparel or retail brand entrances. The final antenna configuration should be based on entrance width, ceiling height, tag type, nearby merchandise and store workflow.
